Is there any way to disable the reverse nanny that stops the car if the door isn't closed?

Yes, I have a legitimate reason to do this.

I feel your pain and wish that there was a way to disable it. My Scatpack didn't have it and the first time it happened I kind of freaked a bit thinking I somehow hit something..

A dealer may be able to turn that off with their tools. They won't do it likely though.
If they could then Alpha ODB should be able to do it.
Thankfully my 2016 doesn't do that. I have no clue why the updates were all done at the dealer and my 2015 Charger, 2016 300 and my 2019 Ram all do it, and it is annoying as hell. Especially not being able to open the door on the truck when backing a trailer in some places.

Unfortunately people are stupid and apparently getting out of the car with it in gear was popular for awhile.🤦. Why this would be different with an electronic shifter vs a normal linkage one, I have no idea.

No sorry, highly doubt a dealer would ever turn it off even if he could. This was a safety feature implemented after a famous fatal accident and seriously doubt anyone associated with the company would touch it.

I agree with they won't. I thought I implied that, I guess looking back I could have worded that better.
That doesn't mean with the dealer level scanner it couldn't be done.
My car didn't have memory seats yet a dealer tech I know activated it for me.
I guess I will have to look into Alpha ODB to see if it is possible.

As far as the accidents that have occurred that are blamed on the electronic shifter, makes no sense. An older car would do the same if it wasn't put in park properly.🤷
I guess having had cars that could be started in gear, both manual and automatic. Not having seat belts and drum brakes on all 4 corners. It is a miracle I made it to my age. LOL

Yeah that's a good idea, fool the BCM that the door is open and the car can't be moved out of park.

I guess it's the same switch that tells the BCM to turn the interior lights on that when the door is open and engine running it will automatically default to park and stay there.

That doesn't change anything on the 3 vehicles that have this feature.

Did you disable your ParkSense by pushing the button? Try that.....

Shouldn't have anything to do with the Park Sense.

The system's purpose is to prevent someone from getting run over if they should attempt to get out of their car with the engine running thinking it is in park, when it really isn't as happened in the fatal Jeep accident.

So if the engine is running with the door open and the transmission is any gear except park, the computer will automatically force the transmission to park.
