I just noticed a white pad looks like a maxipad LOL, behind the screen in front of the drivers side front tire. Thought it was a dead animal, any idea what it is?
At idle, the air intake primarily draws from the lower fender intake point (pictured in OP). When the car is moving, if you have a hood intake (2019+), that becomes the primary air inlet that moves the most air. Air is then forced down into the air box. The air catcher inlet adds ducted air directly onto the filter and creates a vortex that empties out the bottom, thus ensuring the coolest air mass possible caused by the fact that air is not sitting stale inside the air box. This of course assumes that the hood is aligned properly and makes a seal with the air box
