I was going across town to drop off my car to get the 2.85 and rear diff. brace on my hellcat. My car was behaving a little strange in the handling. My wife was following me and called me on the cell. She told me my right rear wheel was doing the wobbles. So instead of going to the mechanic I told her to follow me to Dodge. The first thing I noticed when I got out of the car was a lug nut missing. I know I torqued everything correctly when putting back the stock wheels. So they took it in the back and low and behold the plastic hub centric had stuck on the wheel hub. No matter how much I torqued her eventually it was going to get loose. So a 40 dollar mistake which could of been a disaster for me. A gold star for the wife! And a mental note to me to check the hub centric rings to make sure they are not stuck on the hubs. I will just head to the mechanic tomorrow morning. Disaster avoided.

Race stars at the drag strip which require the hub centric rings. When I went to put my stock wheels back on apparently the hub centric ring stuck to the hub. Obviously I did not see that. I then put the stock wheels on and torqued them down. Then the plastic ring which should not of been there started moving creating a gap between the axle and my wheel. That gap then had the effect of me loosing a lug nut with the others coming loose. I was on my way to the high performance mechanic with my wife following me. She called me up and stated I had a problem. So I drove to Dodge instead which was on the way.

I'm not a race guy, but I'd never use those plastic rings !! I've seen how plastic degrades over time just sitting exposed to the elements. Can't imagine it holding up to the heat & stress of a wheel on a hub, especially on a heavy, high performance car.

If I needed rings, I'd pop for the aluminum ones just for my own peace of mind !
