Just bought a Redeye Charger, it’ll be here in 2 months and I’m nervous about it getting stolen since these cars are in high demand in thief land.

Not my daily, have a garage but not sure if it will fit. I have security cameras and will have a motion security cam/flood light. I’m going to put in a kill switch on fuel pump for sure. What else? I know if they really want it, they’ll get it but adding barriers buys time.

Maybe a pedal lock for the brake? Old schools steering wheel club?

Apple gps tag?

Thanks!

I use Tracki gps on mine and so far have been happy with it. Here is a thread on it by HemiMetal.

If a professional Thief wants it he's going to take it. However what we can do is try to slow him down, this would be a multi-tier approach.
For me I have installed a compustar t13 with dronemobile alarm. Basically even if a thief is able to get the vehicle started the alarm will immediately shut the vehicle off if it does not sense the compustar fob. Generally they have to smash out a window to get inside, this of course will set off the alarm there's also a very high-pitched alarm siren inside the car which to say the least makes it very uncomfortable inside the car unless you have very good ear plugs. Also GPS tracking that uses satellites and LTE.
Next is the vehicle stays in my garage which has cameras, motion, window and door sensors with an alarm that will wake both of my neighbors and myself up immediately.
My Redeye is a Sunday driver however the wife's Trackhawk has the same alarm and it is her daily driver. We won't park it at the airport for several days but are fine when we travel and spend the night at a hotel.
I have no steering wheel locks or break locks and I don't pull any circuit breakers because mostly here in Texas you really need the remote start LOL

Not parking outside in one place consistently is key. If you do that you are without a doubt exposing yourself to pretty bad odds. All the gadgets in the world won’t stop the real scumbags from trying. At the very least you’ll have some sort of damage to your brand new $90k car. You’re basically daring them.
Find a garage.

Most often stolen cars by state:

Looks like Michigan is the state in which a Charger is most likely to get stolen.

Best thing you can do is avoid parking and driving the car in "bad" areas. Car theft is a possibility but car jacking is also a risk.

Garaging the car when not in use is also a good idea. Parking it out in the open on a street or even in a driveway brings with it some risk of theft or vandalism.

Have to mention you are concerned about theft.

While I have had zero cars stolen (years ago did have a dirt bike stolen but was recovered) I have had 2 new cars hit. In May 2009 a 4 week old new car was hit and declared a total loss. And then in June 2009 in a used car I had owned for 2 weeks I hit a mule deer. $25K+ damage. Then more recently, January 2021, my 2 month old Scat Pack was hit while parked in its assigned space. $8K+ in damages.

Do everything you can afford to in layered approach take you more informed and able to react suitably.

Some prevention items, some deterrent items, some notification and recovery items.

Make it as difficult for others to get into or away with your car that you can put up with for how difficult you need to prepare to drive it.

Airtags rat them selves out though. If the perp has an iphone which odds are they do, they'll be notified. Still a good option at least to be notified initially I guess.

I hate to say this again, but….

If you do not have a secure place to keep your HC, it probably is not a good idea to buy one. Kinda like getting a Rottweiler when you live on the 99th floor. One must always temper impulses with reality.

By far, the best way to keep anything from being stolen is to prevent any would-be thieves from knowing it exists. Locked in a garage is the first step. Keeping the door closed so no passer-bys see it is next. Washing and waxing for 2 hours on Sat afternoon so everyone in the neighborhood, and everybody they know and contact knows you have the car, is an invitation.

Simply, if you have something that thieves want, and you let them all know you have it, you have lost half the battle.

Not sure if on your new model this will be solved yet but on my 2020 you can pop up the plastic trim around the shifter and easily find a neutral release pull. They break your window, pull the release and push it away. I am installing a plate on mine I am buying from a member on here and then bolting it down with some security screws to help deter. Then I guess I will get the rf hub lockdown most likely so new keys can’t be made. Also faraday pouches are recommended as many have mentioned.

so a question I have is if you get the rf hub locked down,do you need to use faraday since new keys can’t be made? Or are you still at risk for someone duplicating your key if in range. If anyone can answer that let me know much appreciated thanks!

Don’t underestimate microfiber towels. Twirl them up and snap the thief. Before you know it you are in a Benny Hill skit running around the car chasing the thief trying to snap his ass with the towel. Best deterrent

As I said before that the professional Thief wants your car he's going to take it.
I believe 99.99% of Thieves will not go into a closed garage especially in stand your ground States.
I understand for some people the ravelco is a great option.
However once again, a professional Thief will tow it onto a flatbed and drive away with it, typically they don't need the whole car so much as the parts.
For me I am really happy with the Compustar T13 alarm, if a window is broken or car is moved, hit/bumped the alarm goes off and my phone notifications show up. Along with keeping my car in a garage with a alarm on it. 3 Australian Shepherds that won't do much as far as damage but they sure do bark.
Then there is insurance and we keep pretty good insurance but what do you do if you brand new trackhawk gets stolen, how can that be replaced?
We can only do the best that we can do to protect our cars.
And definitely keep a variety of microfiber towels on hand.

Thanks for the info on your alarm set up. Any wire cutting required with this or is it plug and play? Are glass break and bump sensors part of the kit or extras you add? You also mentioned a siren inside the car. Is this an actual physical siren? If so, where is the placement? Can you keep us updated on the reliability of this install. Seriously considering one of these. My only concern is, should any electrical warranty issues arise, the dealer would probably try and blame it on the aftermarket alarm.Good info, thanks.
