Actually just ordered mine today also.

 

Anyone experiencing their Metco breather filter top being loose? Mine comes off easily.

 

The filter itself comes off pretty easy but the screw on portion seams pretty well seated. At least on my setup

 

Just received mine Monday. Happy with the fit and finnish. The breather part does pop in pretty easy but as long as it doesn't blow out of the gromit I'm happy

 

Mine just seems flimsy and quite loose.

 

After installing mine I started thinking. Does anyone think these thing are just snake oil?

The passenger side has the pvc line (positive crankcase ventilation) vents crankcase pressure and is under vacuum so the need for a breather on the other valve cover seems useless to me.

 

I paid $40 and like the way it looks at events with the hood open. I was not looking to obtain any other functionality other than it being aesthetically pleasing.

 

Yea they do look cool. I like mine for that reason too. But as far as functionality i think the advertising claims are bogus. I paid like $90 For mine with shipping

 

If there was any significant pressure bleed-off mine would've blown off by now as I can just about tap it and it comes loose.

Avoid bumps. Looks good. Haha..

 

Wonder if you could use some type of hose clamp to hold it in more securely?

 

No. Mine literally pulls right up. I tried a small o-ring but it didn't do much.

 

Try a piece of pvc pipe that slides into the valve cover part. That might give you some rigidity to clamp to?

 

I am thinking of using tape to build it up a bit for better hold.Won't be seen.

 

I'd worry about the glue coming lose from the heat and oil mist

 

I’ve got a UPR breather and since buying 1k miles ago it seems as solid as day 1. I’d recommend based on just looks too!

I felt mine fit loosely too. But it has never came off so I am not worried about it falling out

 

I like mine and I don’t have to empty the catch can near as often.

 

The breather element snaps into the breather base, and is intended to resist the pressure that accumulates beneath it. To remove the element, cock it to the side, and it will come off easily. If you pull straight up to remove the element, this action will eventually wear the base of the element and it will no longer fit tightly.
