Steering wheel vibrates between 75 and 80. Dealers have tried to balance wheels 5 times and have had a new set of tires put on but still have issue!

Thx Dan

I had the same problem and the dealer changed 10 tires. The problem was the tires not balancing on the wheels, I would suggest to go back to the dealer until they stop vibrating. You can demand for them to replace the tires if you just bought your car.

Try to find someone with the hunter/roadforce wheel balancing machine. Preferably someone who knows how to operate it as well. Lol.

The factory tires suck plain and simple. There's a ridiculous amount of people with Hellcats complaining of the same vibration issue between 75-80 mph.

But as stated, get them Roadforce balanced first, and go from there. I might end up getting two new tires (different brand) so I'm done with the factory tires altogether.

My car is a 2016 leftover that I purchased in August of this year. I had a steering wheel vibration between 75-80 from mile one. Took it in to my local dealer (it was purchased out of state) and the Road Force tech said that one of the sidewalls on the front tire had hardened from where the car sat stationary on the dealer's showroom floor for so long. He rebalanced all the tires and put the one with the bad sidewall on the back and the problem went away. The tech said the hard sidewall should soften up, but in reality, this rear set of tires will never make it to the front anyway. ;)

Mine did not sit. I ordered mine to be built and picked it up right away. Same issue. re-balanced the tires and that helped but its still there a bit.

I just picked mine up from the dealer service dept yesterday for a slight vibration at 75 to 80, they said the driver side front was bad so they put a new one on, I haven't yet tested it out yet and I hope on my way to work later will prove resolved. I only have 520 miles on it so far.

I definitely recommend the Hunter Road force balancing as recommended in prior posts.
It is very possible a new set of tires could have excessive ride disturbance as well.

Keep us posted with your progress and what happened.

Take care and be safe
They have that system where I go ,they balanced all 4 with the replacement on the left front tire. However I noticed that 1-1/4 ounces of weight were used. I am going to work today at 3:30 pm ,I take the turnpike so I hope it is resolved :)

I just had a similar issue on another car-sitting is the enemy of every part of your car especially tires and brakes-I help a friend with a dealership I help on Saturday and we have issues all the time from sitting with tires shake and brake noise...a few miles helps both-a good highway run for 10 or so miles in warm weather helps soften up the belts in the tires-if your car sits a lot consider a lift or jack stands to help prevent flat spots. I just had a new Michelin replaced due to failing road force balance-it wasn't out much but enough to make the car shake at anything over 50 mph. Took 2 tries to catch it. Got back in the car on new tire and vibration was completely gone...before I knew it I was doing 80 lol...Tires are actually air springs and if they aren't even all around it causes a vibration even if balanced to Zero. Some of these leftover Cats have been sitting for over a year in the same spot!

I highly doubt these issues are from sitting. Ordered my car to be built and picked it up the same week it was built. It has the shimmy over 70mph.
This has been a theme forever with these cars and its not just on leftover models by any means.

It's not about the car it's about the tire sir...but I get it. My Michelin tire with the defect was fresh from the factory. These low profile high performance tires are hard to make, mount and properly balance as it is. If mine sits for more than a week and I get it out on the interstate at first it has a little shimmy around 70 for the first few miles.
These Pirelli tires are actually an older design. My bad tire was bad from day 1 and it was a 35 series Michelin-I seriously think the tech damaged it while mounting and "stretched the bead"...anyway we have 1st world problems don't ya know...

Did they happen to give you any readings of specs or lbs they were out? Printout perhaps?

I hope it is resolved too and it becomes a thing of the past. Best of luck going forward and take care

Any updates on this matter? 3019 Charger HC that did the same thing. Got 4 new tires and still vibrates.

First off any tire balancer is only as good as the operator. I'm hopeing they rotated the tires from ft. To back. If they didnt.. I'd go to a good tire shop, tell them you heard how good they are, and they know there stuff. It might cost 20 bucks to fix like it did me, with a old balance and a manager running the machine. Road force balancers are a money grab, most the time. Not as accurate as you are lead to beleive.

I have 2500 miles on my 2018 charger hellcat. Just picked it up yesterday. 3rd set of tires. I’m still getting vibration at 80. Roadforce balanced. Also if I hold the steering wheel straight, it will put me into the wall. They said they aligned the car, but I guess they did that wrong too.
Gonna try another dealership. Or a lemon law attorney.

I agree with @sultanzarooni92 also having an alignment done.
I always see all the tire changes and wheel changes but why not a front end alignment?

I just had a front end alignment done on my Hellcat charger. What a difference.

I hope you get the problem fixed!

Linda :)
