IF ........Your a gambler and you roll the dice, be prepared for the dice to come up Snake eyes [+][+] . 1 in 20 chance you'll get a trouble free car. The list of problems with this car will boggle the mind.

(1) Fuel rail recall because of poor installation

(2) Radiator hose blowing off – remedy ? Two hose clamps because the stub doesn't have a shoulder

(3) Radiator blowing end caps off

(4) Radiators splitting

(5) Supercharger inter-cooler is leaking glycol into the cylinders

(6) Smell of antifreeze when the heater is on

(7) Harmon-Kardon stereo system is inferior and sounds terrible

(8) Performance pages don't load quickly

(9) Doors slow to unlock with keyless entry

(10) Tires are undersized for the power plant. Customers spending additional dollars to upgrade the inadequate tires ( See # 37 )

(11) Drive shafts twisting off $1000 $1500 to upgrade to 1 piece ( see # 37 )
Image

(12) Body panels don't fit ( uneven gaps, uneven joints , results from poor assembly, tail lights misaligned )

(13) Substandard paint quality, ( flaws, runs in paint, dirt in paint, orange peel, color mismatch, burn through during polishing )

(14) Quality control final inspection that looks like they had their eyes closed at the time and just pushed the car thru to get it out

(15) Rims finish is far from durable , chips and scratches easily --- powder coat rims $600 + shipping

(16) Rocker arm broken, don't worry this is a stock item for a service department
Image

(17) Pulley / Harmonic damper loose and F'd up engine or could it be the supercharger is causing the damper to spin ?

(18) Rear ends whining because of poor assembly, poor engineering ---- $1850 to upgrade 3rd member

(19) Paddles shifting transmission to wrong gear

(20) Laguna leather stretches excessively, and loses shape. Do people pay attention to how they enter and exit the seat? might be a consumer problem and not the leather
Image

(21) Rotors two piece are noisy. Owners are annoyed but just ignore the clanking when turning , at least pedestrians will hear you coming

(22) Engine Failures :catastrophic engine failures

(23) Cooling issues , stuck thermostats, radiator fan failures, over heats in stop and go traffic, causing heat soak

(24) This is far from an American car, all non domestic built, just a cheap knock off

(25) Car is just a lead sled, needs the power to push the heavy TURD down the road and the fat people inside too ( See # 41 )

(26) Body style isn't anything special, plain lines, and there is nothing retro about this car !

(27) LEMON Now --- multiple cars are turned back in on LEMON Law, Technicians incapable of making necessary repairs

(28) Stutters or stalls out on cold startup, owners fix>>>> just live with it, it's a Dodge

(29) Soot drips from exhaust, engine burns rich and during a cold startup causes condensate and soot to drip out of exhaust joints

(30) Clutch failure from spirited driving or drag racing ( another weak link or cheap knock off )
Burnt Up Clutch | SRT Hellcat Forum

(31) The car is starting to have GREMLINS that can't be explained.

(32) Trunk lid that retains enough water for the next apocalypse (quite the engineering marvel to design a survival vehicle and muscle car in one)

(33) Front Tires : Challenger, people are complaining something is cutting into front tires
Image

(34) Oil cooler lines starting to leak at low mileage ( could turn into a TSB ) and other non related oil leaks are starting to appear

(35) Back-up camera -- poor video quality -- poor low light resolution
Image

(36) Exhaust valves squeak when opening and closing.

(37) Differential mounts breaking with more stress on the driveline ( The parts are built to the minimum strength , now you know the rest of the story )

Image

(38) Power Steering pump noisy and / or intermittent steering assist loss

(39) TSB compilation : SRT Hellcat TSB's | SRT Hellcat Forum

(40) Oil Consumption : some motors are experiencing high oil consumption, it would suggest poor quality control during assembly, engine tolerance, parts quality
My Cat Eats and drinks oil..But I love her. | SRT Hellcat Forum

(41) Track Capable : at 4469 lbs @ 57/43 weight distribution MAX G .91 doesn't make this a viable twisty track car, under steers into corners & over steers out of corners. It's okay for the drag strip, if the tires were 50% wider

(42) Odds of getting trouble free Hellcat is 1 in 17 , Data gathered from the number of responses divided by the number of views ( Hellcat, No Problems. | SRT Hellcat Forum ) that is only a 6% chance for a trouble free car. ( Your Chances of Dying ) are better than getting a trouble free Hellcat

help: manual transmission knock when apply brakes | SRT Hellcat Forum

Some of these problems the owner will just live with >>> What A Life !

Sometimes ---- you get what you paid for ---- SUCKS !!!:mad::mad:

Congratulations if you are lucky enough to get one trouble free.

GT500 is a great all around car with better quality

A little Heat Soak doesn't look so bad ............in a Z06

Can tell you the hellcat is worth it. The only complaint I have is with the volume of the stereo. Other than that, it sounds amazing. Yes there have been issues with the launch of this car, but that isn't uncommon on new models. The recal was limited to a handful of cats, not all. I have had no issues with my cat. Either way, the Z06 isn't a bad choice either. That was my second choice.

sorry to hear this dude, poor guy, well the only positive thing i can say is that the C7 body looks cool but man o man when that day comes when you're at the red light next to a guy in a hellcat and after the 1/4 mile you're gonna see smoke mirrors :p
jokes aside, wish you the best.

This thread cracks me up. :p

I have none of the other problems Coyote describes above, but I will agree with FreightTrain that my SRT page is too slow to load. So slow that if it's not already up when I want it, I'm not going to even bother trying to hit the button. My car was built less than a month ago, and has the latest firmware on uconnect.

CC, enjoy your new Vette. I had a 2005 C6 and really liked it. Congrats on your new purchase.

The only true issue I have is the faint smell of coolant when the heat is on. This is why warranties exist. It will get corrected and I will keep loving this car. I refuse to miss this opportunity to own this beast.

And doesn't GM have crazy amounts of recalls each year? Z06 is a nice looking ride but I feel you may regret your decision. Good luck either way.

I'm doing the same thing, just no z06 around here locally either! Think he's trying to convey a feeling of disrespect. Dodge did this to me too, 1st when the Challenger 1st came out, got a V-series instead, zero regrets, and now with this hellcat. I think he could easily get past the few inconveniences or fixable flaws, had they made any effort. I haven't cancelled my order yet, only a $500 deposit, just incase it DOES get here before I'm confirmed on the z, I certainly feel his frustration. They wouldn't let me order, too soon, and none of the 3 dealers called like they said when I could, got on a list in Nov., only received one call, which didn't really answer anything. Just feels like they are going to steal as long as they can, then will end up begging you back when it evens out. That's how it went the first go around mentioned above. They can't accidentally be this bad at something keeps running through my mind.

#19 ·
Whatever route you go I wish you luck. If you need to voice your frustration, go ahead. But remember there are people here who love the hell out of their Hellcat and will defend it, tooth and nail. FCA messed up. No doubt. You backing the Z06 over the Hellcat got my attention. You are on a Hellcat forum talking down on a Hellcat. Sorry but that bothered me. I wasn't disrespectful about it.

The Z06 is amazing, good luck with that. Most true car guys don't give a flip about brands. I have had some great Vettes in the past and don't regret buying any of them.

#24 ·
The truth hurts some times guys.. That Z06 is a pretty fast car, faster than the cat on DR. I to have looked at getting it. But just going to wait on the kitty,

Eh it's still not a classic challenger body but I always tell my fiancé the C7 z06 looks good and is quite fast but will I drop another $20k on top of the hellcat MSRP to get a z06 probably not. I got the hellcat for about the same price as msrp z06 and I don't regret it. I see z06 at least 5 times a day when I drive out but a hellcat turns heads and is still pretty rare sight to see. I like both cars but I'm a challenger body kinda guy.

I just built a fairly base model "2015 Corvette Z06 Coupe 1LZ" for the hell of it, and MSRP was $85K. So, even if I was fed up, I couldn't afford a $92K car after TTTL. I think I will have to stick with the Hellcat.

I'm seeing red, 211 days and I finally hear from the dealers Dodge Rep,......This is my response :

Hi Dave,

After Talking to you yesterday, and having you tell me the rep from Dodge, thought that if I modified the interior specifications, it might move the car closer to a VIN. I would compare that to compromising for a wife with a beautiful complexion vs a wife with one eye and warts. I just couldn't stand to look at it for the next 20 years.

I will not compromise for a chance to get a VIN in the allocation lottery. If they want to dangle a carrot they should do it in front of a donkey. Everything Dodge has done tweaking the allocation process won't get me any closer to a VIN this year.

I have reviewed the forums and the list of problem with this car boggle the mind.

Even a Yugo has better quality control than the Dodge Hellcat !

I have given it a lot of thought from pure excitement when you ordered the car to now of disappointment and dread knowing what quality Dodge puts into a $65K car.

Dave, I have made the decision to pull my order for the Dodge Hellcat. You can keep the VON as a good sold order if you like, but with the quality control issues surrounding this car I would rather not take the risk of getting a car I wouldn't be satisfied with.

I will be pursuing a 2015 C7 Z06 corvette stingray within the month of April.

You can tell the Dodge rep I will be replacing all of my Dodge vehicles in the next few years with General Motors vehicles, the way they have treated myself and a you as a dealer is totally uncalled for. FCA has not been upfront thru this entire process and is a reflection on the mismanagement of the entire company.

Sincerely

Thank you for your support and understanding through this process.
Sorry. None of my issues have been that bad. I am extremely happy with my Hellbaby. I understand your frustration waiting for a build. I hope whatever you get you enjoy it! I have enjoyed having you on the forum and sharing some great stuff. Best of luck.

I do not understand why some guys here are criticizing the Hellcat (Crazy Coyote and badash ). If you do not like it, get off the forum and buy a Corvette. If you waited 7 months, and now you are mad at FCA and decided to buy something else because you are disappointed at them, go ahead. But it tells me that you are not very smart. badash, with all due respect, why do you want a Hellcat for? to lose against a Vette? People and their issues are just amazing.

#30 ·
Personally, I know it is easy to say since I have my car, but I would have waited a year for my Hellbaby. Not saying I wouldn't be whiney and Tim K would probably be on a first name basis with me, but I would have waited. I loved my R/T Charger. It just wasn't a Hellcat! :)

I hate to see you pull your order, but I am not going to put you down or badmouth you, because I understand your frustration. I did not realize how damned LUCKY I was to have as smooth of an experience that I did ordering, and then getting my HellCat when I did, until I joined this forum a week after I drove Dante home. I mean, my biggest complaint was the whole B5 Blue color fiasco, which is nothing compared to what you people in VON hell have been enduring.

I wish I could say or do something to change things, or make you feel better, but ... it is what it is. If you truly do back out and go get a Stingray, then enjoy! The Stingrays are, indeed, gorgeous cars! If you are leaving us, then take care, and Good Luck in all that you do!

yea there nice rides. A guy in my neighborhood has a white one just like that. with the Z07 package as well. I might have to give it a go when I get the car. In the drag times article it states that the time would be a little fast b/c the Z07 package actually slows down that car. also in one of the road and track or so mag , they put it up against the nizmo GTR and they said the same thing.

Good on you man. If I can't sort out a HC by May I'm in a Z06 too. 0-60 is 2.8 seconds. The clowns who think that's gonna get beat by a Hellcat are dreaming. I believe the word for a Z06 vs HC match would be 'Hellmiliation'. I'd have done it already but I could really use 4 doors. Dodge is losing people left and right. Even if I get a car now, I'll never be a loyal fan of Dodge after going through this nonsense.

#45 ·
Damn at that price it better smoke a cat !
What are you talking about, half the HC's available are 80K. Base model Z06 is 79K. And let's be honest, at 100K the Z06 is 10 times the car the Hellcat could ever be from it's magnetic ride control to the epic carbon ceramic brakes.

And last I checked GM would actually sell me a Z06.

Vettes typically compete against sports cars, not usually family-sized cars; but note some such cars don't dial back the power after the first pass or two the way a vette does. Once the vette has made a lap or quarter-mile, the hp & times get significantly worse...shameful. But, I guess if you only want to make a single lap, and you are a loner, with deep pockets, then the ZO6 is a viable choice. But for those like me, who want to put down impressive numbers pass after pass after pass, and still be able to pick up a few buddies later and load the trunk with lots of luggage, and be able to enjoy the 18 speaker system after adjusting the suspension and trans for the bumpy roads home, there is NO substitute for a Hellcat. Interestingly, there are some videos online of stock Hellcats pulling away from new Z06's on the road, amazing, for a fully loaded luxurious vehicle with so much interior space!
