Hey guys been a while, since my earlier posts last year I've gone crazy on my 6 speed hellcat and it's now a twin Turbo monster.

60-130s are now more of a challenge putting down all the power on the street so I limit the power in 2nd gear to 1050 and ramp up the boost to 1150 whp as traction becomes more available. As a result I've managed a 60-130 in 4.8 sec and 100-150 in 4.1 sec on these settings.

I'm proud to say there isnt a hellcat on dragy that have managed this low of times on a non prepped surface. Pretty cool being the fastest even with the disadvantage of a man pedal

Man it's an unreal feel when those Turbos hit. As you can see on the Dragy graph we are pulling almost 1G from a roll 🤯
That is way kool. What rubber do you have on the back? It is a struggle at about any speed under 100-120 to keep it happily connected to the road when accelerating. While this RE don’t have a lot of additional power on paper it seems to be a beast of another level to control on the track. To me sometimes in some places, partial throttle seems like it will pull about as good as attempting to just paste it. Tough to describe to you guys who have a goal of getting that throttle open as far as possible as quick as possible.

I'm running the Nitto NT05R 305/45/18 and I have to be honest, these are great roll race tires because they are stable at high speed. The down side is they require alot of heat to hook.
To answer your question, I've learned exactly what speed and on what type of road I can hook.
With the turbo setup I have complete control of my Horsepower for an example I can dead hook 850whp which is my setting 1 and once I get moving I can ramp in :

  • 950 whp setting 2
  • 1050 whp setting 3
  • 1150 whp setting 4
  • 1250 whp setting 5

All of this is with a touch of a button on my shifter.
For that 60 -130 run I started at 45 in setting 3 and by 100mph I switched to setting 4.

For the 100-150 run I started at 80mph in 4th gear on setting 4 and no shift was required which is why it's so much faster.

Crazy part is, I've done one 100-150 run on setting 5 and it's too fast for me to share publicly, I'll never get a race again lol.

I like it.

I think I need to work with a tuner soon. Not so much for extra power, but to optimize what I have. Sort of like that, but I probably don’t need a lot more power, I just need to to always deliver what I want. Either someone needs to program the shifts a bit lower or just do what is necessary to remove these hiccups. I don’t see a 1-2 shift because we are well in motion and won’t need it, but @ 2-3 for sure both Monday and more so Tuesday on a much shorter track it needs to be smoother and that big hiccup cannot be better than a normal shift because it feels awful. I may need to try to press the magic traction/stability button and see what this thing turns into. You guys are laughing, because I can tell this crowd has the programming/PCM stuff way behind you now. Me and a few others are still pioneering the left and right game with these big boats.

Just saw this but the da was -1265 it was cold for Florida. It’s on that info I posted at the top. But I thought it was pretty good for full weight and on a street tire. I’m shooting for 5.9 or better in 2021.
The higher the speeds with which you are dealing, the more the lower air density will help.
Even dragsters, if at high altitude, can record higher top speeds, though they experience marginally longer ET's.

There is a balance point where the reduced power provided by less-dense air is offset by the reduction in drag of traveling THROUGH said air.

The number of warplanes that can supercruise at sea level is limited, but many more can supercruise at higher altitudes. (supercruise is supersonic velocity without afterburners.)

I think if top speed records or high speed runs from X to XY mph are your thing, find the highest, longest, flattest, coldest venue you can. The Atacama desert comes to mind. Not sure if the dry lakes or the salt flats at Bonneville are at higher altitudes, for a more local experience.

The lower your speed, the more the advantage of high pressure air is enjoyed. The higher your speeds, the more obtrusive that same air becomes. A properly set up turbo motor would benefit the most from high altitudes, as it can just keep dialing up the compressor RPM until it is close to whatever theoretical design limits it may have.

On a side note, compressor wheels of ceramic are very light weight, but not as strong as aluminum.
Compressor wheels of cast aluminum are not as strong as billet/carved aluminum.
The top of the heap for compressor wheels, to my knowledge, is billet titanium, as it can withstand the pressure of boost and high RPM better than can any other material, though it is heavier than either of the aforementioned materials.

The higher your altitude, the higher the RPM at which your turbocharger will spin to gain the same boost pressure. The simple kludge for this is to set the boost pressure as relative to ambient atmospheric as opposed to absolute.

A more refined system would regulate both peak boost at any given RPM, AND turbocharger RPM, so one could boost to one's heart's content and not risk turbocharger failure.

Well guys this is getting ridiculous how fast this car is moving now. I turned up the boost some more and ran a new low 100-150mph time.

For being a full weight car this number is UNBELIEVABLE to me, its actually mind boggling.

Now the next step is figuring out how to put more power down at 60mph on the street so I can bring that 4.8 60-130 down to 4.4. I just got some new tires so I'll give it a try this weekend
